Follow up : empty turn

Thank you everyone for the feedback on my previous article. The amount of positive response is heatwarming and I also enjoyed the discussions stemmed from it.
Here are two follow ups from it.

I said in my article open Shifou was not the correct play because I had Kommandon. Thinking about it and talking about it, I believe it is indeed an incorrect play.
Futoshi 1 to 6 is the correct play. Yes that is very risky. If he pp this round he pretty much win the game of it. If I pp him I win off it. But he should have all-in'd turn one and either loose or win t1 rather than play cautious which only led to him loosing a little bit of ground in the game. Urban rivals is limited to 4 rounds. The crucial round that determins who wins will happen eventually.




Going back to the Shifou play. I only talked about the Chang 0 answer. I've been discussing and thinking about it.

Mulligan definitly has merits. Let's say I win with Mulligan turn 1.
I now have 1 less pill, Chang, Kommandon, Marjory.
He has Futoshi, Benicio and Zip.

Mulligan + a Berzerk, I deal 13 differencial. 14 if I win over Zip.
He makes a diff of 14 with Benicio + Zip/Futoshi. 12 with Futoshi + Zip.

It is crucial to win over Benicio if I want to win. And to win without letting him furry on turn 4.
I still have to win 2 out of 3 rounds, or win one of those next 3 but with every variables going according to the plan. A very scrappy situation to play. PP'ing my opponent round 1 does not give me that much of an advantage.

But if my opponent plays Shifou 1 or 2. He wins the round. Without doing that much damage. He either have to win 2 out of the 3 next rounds, or win them in a very precise setting. Again, scrappy slightly advantageous situation for him. The game is still very evenish. But if I old Chang this will give me a very good advantage on turn 2.

Tldr : regardless of how turn 1 goes, whoever messes up turn 2 looses the game.

Ps : I may be hindsight biased because I won the game. So do not take everything as gospel.
The example is not perfect, but I hope you understand the principle.
